In 2016, floods in Louisiana damaged over 100,000 homes—the vast majority of which did not have flood insurance. Even after calculating the expected $1.6 billion in aid, the Louisiana Governor's Office estimated $1.3 billion in unmet needs for the housing sector alone. The families of low socioeconomic status— including families of veterans, the elderly, and disabled already face challenges. Being displaced from home, or living in crowded, unhealthy conditions with the stress of not knowing how they'll solve their housing problems puts this group at risk of slipping further away from sustainable recovery. These are the folks who can't afford more time to "wait and see"if the government will help them. Luckily, All Hands Volunteers was there to lend a helping hand.
All Hands Volunteers was in Louisiana soon after the floods hit and plans to continue their repair work through the summer of 2017 and beyond. This plan depends on the generosity and compassion of donors like you. We need your help to continue their work beyond just Louisiana, targeting vulnerable families in times of disaster who lost everything in the blink of an eye. With nowhere else to turn, All Hands Volunteers is there to rebuild their damaged home and give these people hope for a future. These people truly deserve help at times like this.
You can help! Just $15 provides equipment for volunteers to help rebuild homes after disaster strikes!
