(Progress bar updated M-F at 9am PST)

San San Aye is a 24-year-old who has been working diligently to continue her educational future. She spent her entire childhood learning at the Children's Development Center (CDC) at Mae Tao Clinic. Her parents are refugees from Myanmar who both have full-time jobs at the clinic. Ever since she graduated from CDC administrative challenges have kept her from continuing her education. She most recently received Myanmar citizenship which brings her one step closer to her dream—a Nursing Science degree at Assumption University. After recently passing her entrance exams and interviews, she described it as the happiest moment of her life. San San Aye is incredibly gifted at translation—she can communicate in Thai, Karen, Burmese and English. Her ability to speak four languages will bring her future success as a nurse. Mae Tao Clinic helped propel San San Aye towards a bright future. After she completes her nursing degree, Mae Tao Clinic would like to give her a job given her unique skill sets. She needs your help to complete her journey and have a successful career in nursing.

With your help, we can send San San Aye to Assumption University for a year! Your donation helps cover the costs of tuition, registration, uniforms, health care, and living costs for her first year of Nursing school. Born as a refugee, San San Aye has worked so hard to finish her secondary school education. For just $15, you can bring San San Aye one step closer to her degree.

Update October 2017 - In San San Aye's own words:

Dear Friends!
"I was growing up from Mae Tao Clinic and I have seen many migrant people who were suffering a lot in their life. As I see the entire situation, one day I also would like to corporate with my community’s health care leaders and I would like to help to people who need health care. It’s one of my motivations. The other one is my family, among my family’s members, there is no one who are really educated and know about health care. Therefore, I would like to be the one who would like to help and to become a nurse. I believe that after I graduated from this University, I would become a skillful nurse.
I am indeed very lucky that I am a student."
Love and regards,

—San San Aye
