The alpaca, native to South America, is an animal on which many Andean families base their livelihood. The alpaca is a member of the camelid family, and a close cousin of the llama. They are sheared annually and their hairs separated into grades depending on thickness. The wool is strong, light, soft, hypoallergenic, breathable, and oil-free.

  • Two 100 gr. skeins of 100% natural alpaca wool
  • No artificial dyes
  • Approximately 393 feet length per skein (120 meters)
  • Hand-spun in and fairly traded from Bolivia

February 18, 2013 - I bought the Hand-Spun Alpaca Yarn ( Set of 2) last month in Fuchsia. The yarn is so soft and the color is very pleasing to the eye. I will most likely buy more in Melange Blue or Purple. I see, also, on the Rainforest site, they carry the Hand-Spun Alpaca Yarn (Set of 2) in White, Chocolate and Gray. I think it will be a nice yarn to work with and I think it's a good bargain.
