November 29, 2013 - These adorable pieces are little and light-weight, and show that the artist carved them with much loving care, attention to detail and skill. It is actually a 9 piece set since the Baby Jesus and manger are separate items. Joseph carries a shepherd's crook but has a halo to distinguish him as Jesus' earthly Dad. This is my first Christmas decoration for the year, straight from my mailbox to an honored place in the home. I purchased it during a 30% off-highest-priced-item promotion and see now that I got an even better deal than expected (would purchase again). An absolute joy. Thank you, Juan Licas Coronado!

Artisan: Juan Licas Coronado

Artisan Juan Licas Coronado 'I learned stone carving when I was very young, and have been an artisan for more than 30 years,' says Peru's Juan Licas Coronado. 'From all those crafts, I've chosen the Andean alabaster stone quarried in Huamanga to work with because our characters are very much alike. I portray religious motifs and some daily scenes of Peruvian life. This stone is soft and easy to work with, but it can be a bit fragile and has to be carefully handled.'
