May 8, 2013 - The colors didn't look anything like the picture. Mostly blue that looks like plastic. Would prefer some natural colors like the pic. Also the elastic is very stretched out already so it falls off my wrist quite easily. I thought this bracelet was just ok.

March 18, 2013 - I bought one of these bracelets. They are very pretty and support a good cause. I wish they were a little bit stretchier as my wrist is large and it is hard to find bracelets that fit comfortably. However, these bracelets are great for the average sized-wrist and are very colorful!

Artisan: Relief Beads

Artisan Relief Beads

Recognized by the United Nations as the world's worst humanitarian crisis, the conflict in Darfur has brought untold misery to millions. Forced from their homes and suffering starvation and disease, Darfur's refugees also live under the constant threat of violence.

Relief Beads, a grassroots arm of Relief International, provides direct humanitarian aid to Darfur's most vulnerable refugees: women and children. Funds from sales of its beautifully handmade artisan bracelets go where they are most needed: operation of the second largest refugee camp in Darfur (Zam Zam Camp), lifesaving therapeutic care for children in clinics throughout the area, educational costs for thousands of students, and operation of the Women's Development Center in Darfur, which provides medical and psychological care to women and children affected by the crisis.

In addition, your support provides therapeutic feeding and high-nutrient rations to those in desperate need, family education on care for malnourished children, growth monitoring, routine health screenings, on-the-job training for local Sudanese nutrition teams, and emergency referral support for severe cases. Of these services, therapeutic feeding to combat rampant malnutrition in children and nursing and pregnant women is core. Unfortunately, sick women and children living on the distant south side of the camp must walk up to 25 miles to reach care, a journey that can put their already poor health at further risk. Bracelet sales help further the goal of building and staffing a more convenient therapeutic feeding center to ease their suffering.
