Recycled Sari Wraparound Skirt
Roll over image to zoom in
Celebrate the rich culture of India with a uniquely colorful skirt made from recycled saris. Delightfully lightweight, these skirts are handmade in Nepal using salvaged squares of fabric -- giving a second life to glorious textiles worthy of preservation.
The sari has been the traditional wardrobe of the India subcontinent for centuries, and is made of handwoven strips of fabrics as long as 29' (9 m). Saris are typically woven with one plain end to be worn concealed within the wrap, and with decorative borders that run the length of the garment. A one to three foot wide elaboration on this decoration makes up the other end. It is this end, known as the pallu, which is worn thrown over the shoulder in some styles of draping.

February 9, 2015 - lovely material. vibrant colors. i am 5'3". length and fit perfect.
February 7, 2015 - I ordered the 26" length to wear on hot, sticky summer days. I am disappointed that the 'liner' is extremely short and made of silk rather than the traditional cotton petticoat. On a hot, humid day, this skirt will just cling to legs. While this is made in the sub-continent, it is definitely not designed by anyone living in a warm, humid climate.
February 3, 2015 - Very cute and great patchwork combos on the skirt I received. I ordered the long one and I'm 5'4" and when tied at the waist it reached my ankles. It's thin enough that I don't mind wearing it higher than I normally would as it isn't bulky under a shirt. Some of the patch threads were loose but it seems to be made decently.
February 2, 2015 - I had ordered longer length. Silk saris are beautiful in appearance; looks to be in good condition, though I have not worn it yet. It would be a shame to see these beautiful fabrics go to waste.
August 27, 2014 - I LOVE patchwork skirts and I LOVE silk! So I just had to have this! I am only 5 feet tall, so I ordered the 26" length - glad I did! It hits about mid-calf on me, wearing the waist tied just below my belly button. It's fully adjustable in the waist due to the standard tie-style side. Also it has this neat little flap (liner) on the inside, to give double layering effect. I LOVE the soft shininess, the way the patches work together, and how it will go literally everything! Heck I'll even wear it in the zero degree polar vortex winters, with a pair of thick tights, boots, and a sweater, it'll rock! =D
