See the world in a whole new way! Our handmade kaleidoscope provides a dazzling experience combining science and artistry. It is fair-trade imported through a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a stable and gainful source of employment for underprivileged artisans in Bangladesh.

Invented in the early nineteenth century, kaleidoscopes contain pieces of glass that are reflected by mirrors set at different angles to create various symmetrical patterns when viewed through one end of the tube. The name kaleidoscope comes from Greek, meaning "beautiful form to see."

  • Wood & mirrors
  • 7.75" L x 1.6" diameter (19.6 cm x 3.8 cm)
  • Handmade in & fairly traded from Bangladesh

Warning: like all kaleidoscopes, the interior contains mirrors and should not be used by children under the age of 13.

I absolutely LOVE the kaleidoscope..........I haven't had one since I was child and I just turned 64 years old.....It brought back my childhood in a most pleasant way.

Bought this for a Christmas gift. Well made. Very sturdy. Colors were very pretty as well. Very happy with the product. Thank you so much!!!

I bought the tri-color one--in fact, I bought six of them, one for me, and five for Christmas presents. No, it doesn't have a collar to turn, but many kaleidoscopes don't, and there isn't much use to them. It's beautiful and fun. Tends to make multiple-type patterns more than the kind with one big flower, but I love mine. Smooth. Feels good to hold. Pretty!

I bought 2 of these as gifts and could not be more pleased. I have an antique kaleidoscope, and with the good weight and solid construction of these, I am sure they will be around a long time, too. There is a nice variety of beads that are colourful and move easily as you rotate the scope. The wood is lovely and feels good in the hand. They come in a sturdy papier mache'-like box with a window-lid. I am really thrilled with this item and am trying to think of more people to buy them for!

I bought both dots and tri-color. They were gifts for kids aged 9 & 14.years old. Both kaleidoscopes are well constructed, and well worth the price, as they were on sale. The recipients seem to enjoy them; a good gift choice.

Really pretty and easier for my little niece to use than the ones where you twist the end. Very happy with them.

Bought 4 to give to grandkids. I would recommend giving to the older kids and not under the age of 5. They absolutely loved them. The two younger ones hit theirs on the floor and all the little pcs came out. They were so sad. We think Daddy can fix them tho. But the kids carried them around the whole day and looked at them in all kinds of different lighting. Very nicely made.

I bought four Kaleidoscopes, a couple of each style. I love all kinds of kaleidoscopes. These are not complex and have only a few pieces of colored objects in them but enough to give color and design. You do need to turn the whole scope but that is another part of the handcrafted beauty. I purchase from Greater Goods because I can find hand made objects that have beauty and because my money is doing double time. I have unique gifts with a story and I've helped children to read or eat, a sister in Christ to be assisted, research to be completed etc... These scopes are beautiful and you will be proud to give them as gifts or add to your collection.
