It's not often that education research studies make the front page of the New York Times, but this was a big exception. A far-reaching study by Harvard and Columbia researchers found that highly effective elementary and middle school teachers directly led to better success in life for their students.

Clearly, teacher quality matters a lot for the future of our kids and our country as a whole. We need to make sure we keep our best teachers in the classroom and we reward them with pay that reflects the importance of their work so that every kid has the opportunity to learn from a great teacher.

Support efforts to recruit, reward and retain great teachers for all American students.

Jul 3, 2014 Beth Zeller Teachers spend more time with our children than we as parents do. Education and knowledge to help those on the spectrum is essential so they can benefit and learn without struggling because of lack of knowledge on part of teachers or other students.
Jul 3, 2014 Elena Avolio Teachers make the world of difference in a child's life. Thanks to all their hard work & dedication, my son, has a bright future!!!

Jul 2, 2014 (Name not displayed) I'm a single mom my 13 year old attended a school who were supposed to help him .Instead he got bullied by students & neglected by his teacher ,counselor and principle . Now he thinks all schools are like this & he is discouraged to progress in school.
Jul 2, 2014 Kim Mitchell Teachers need to be better educated in special needs children. Many time the kids that look "normal" but have a diagnosis fall in the cracks of education. Education and understanding is the key.
Jul 2, 2014 (Name not displayed) I agree about investing in good educators. I have a learning disability and having a good teacher/paraprofessional is really helpful especially if you struggle with math or reading. And it's hard to find that helpful person. So please go through with this
