5/2/2014 Due to recent unrest in the Crimea, Russia has been kicked out of the G8, changing the organization's name to the G7. This does not, however, change the fact that global should be a priority for these world leaders. Sign the petition today showing your support for solving world hunger by 2015.
Goal: 15,000 Progress: 5,534
Sponsored by: The Hunger Site

Each year, the annual G7 Summit is held, during which leaders from the world's eight largest economies come together to discuss issues of global concern. We need to send President Obama a message asking him to specially address the growing problem of global hunger.

If we are to eliminate extreme hunger and poverty by 2015 as established by the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals, the G7 must focus much of their conversation on ways to tackle the underlying causes of malnutrition and indigence.

Hunger is the world's number one health risk, killing more people than tuberculosis, malaria, and AIDS combined. Over 15,000 people will die today of hunger alone. If we don't address the ever-growing issue of world hunger, trying to solve other problems will be fruitless.

Urge President Obama to focus on solving world hunger by 2015 — both at the Summit and beyond.

Dear President Obama,

If we are to break the cycle of poverty and hunger by 2015, as established by the United Nations' Millennium Development Goals, the member states of G7 will need to put much of their focus on how to combat rising rates of malnutrition and indigence.

The facts are these:

· Hunger is the world's number one health risk, killing more people than tuberculosis, malaria, and AIDS combined
· Over 15,000 people will die today of hunger alone
· One in four children in developing countries are malnourished
· One in seven of the world's population aren't healthy enough to lead an active life

These statistics are scary, but they're all too real. Hunger is a cyclical problem — hunger causes poverty which in turn causes more hunger. We must find the root causes of hunger in order to combat it, and that's what I'm hoping you'll work toward with the G7 as well as throughout the rest of your career as a world leader.

Thank you for your time.
