Goal: 30,000 Progress: 7,930
Sponsored by: CARE USA

Escalating violence and political unrest in Syria show no signs of abating, with more than 100,000 new refugees fleeing every month.

This is putting an incredible strain on neighboring countries, such as Jordan and Lebanon, stretching their already limited resources and worsening the humanitarian crisis in the region. Syria is the largest and fastest evolving crisis in the world.

The U.S. must continue to show leadership by providing humanitarian assistance to Syrian refugees and host communities. Tell President Obama: support the civilians trapped inside Syria and the refugees forced to flee their homes.

To whom it may concern,

As the conflict in Syria continues, I strongly urge you to keep the women, children, and families affected by this crisis at the forefront of the conversation and support Syrian refugees and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs).

More than 2.8 million refugees have fled Syria and are living in neighboring countries, such as Jordan and Lebanon, and are in need of protection and support. Within Syria, a further 6.5 million people have fled their homes and are internally displaced. They need food, housing, clean water, clothes, blankets, and other basic needs, in addition to psycho-social support and counseling after enduring traumatic violence.

It is now more urgent than ever that governments, like the U.S., prioritize a peaceful resolution to the conflict and facilitate the delivery of much-needed humanitarian assistance. As you consider an appropriate response to the Syrian crisis, please include humanitarian assistance for the children and families affected by the violence.

Sincerely,

Petition Signatures
