Rescue U Crew Checked Out By Cats

The cats of living at P.U.R.R. West Virginia decided to say "hello" to Bryna Donnelly, part of the team leading the current Rescue U project.

PURR has embraced a colony style living area for the cats in their care. They believe it is better for their mental and physical health.

With help from students and volunteers participating in the Rescue U rebuild of their facility, PURR will be able to offer an even better and more enriching environment for the cats and kittens awaiting adoption.

The average monthly intake to this shelter is anywhere from 25 to 75 cats. However, during kitten season, their numbers jump! Bryna reports that they have already taken in an additional 100 kittens in the past month.

Originally built as a elementary school in 1904, PURR recently converted the building to serve as a cat shelter.

Rescue U will help them clean, organize, and make necessary repairs to make more space suitable for the shelter’s needs.

GreaterGood.org’s grants for Rescue U projects are supported by The Animal Rescue Site’s Gifts That Give More program.

Previous Rescue U projects in 2013 include the makeover of the Carolina Waterfowl Rescue in January  and a clean-up of the Lake County Shelter in Florida in March.
