Providing clean water and other sustainable solutions for children's health

Wakami VillageFair trade and ethical sourcing of products can create new sources of income for rural communities, but common problems can keep families from reaching their full potential.

The Wakami Village aims to implement programs where rural women can become strong agents of change for their generation and future generations.

In Guatemala, one Wakami Village project focuses on giving families access to clean water.  By providing a simple eco filter for water, the majority of bacteria and other microorganisms can be removed.

Currently contaminated water is the leading cause of children's deaths in Guatemala. Programs like Communities of Earth's Wakami Village provide a simple, affordable, and sustainable solution to the problem of contaminated water.

GreaterGood.org supports this and other children's health initiatives through contributions  from the Gifts That Give More [tm] program and The Child Health Site.
