A veteran in Puerto Rico wanted to spend as much time as he had left with his daughter and grandson. Veterans Homestead in Massachusetts found him a place at their hospice.
During this final weeks there, he was able to fish and tell stories to his twelve-year-old grandson. His sister from Florida flew up to be with him when he died. Without the Veteran Hospice Homestead program and the dedication of the staff, this veteran couldn't have afforded that last journey from Puerto Rico to be with his family.
Every day, Veterans Homestead provides a true home for those who served their country. Their services range from rehabilitation and education programs for young veterans who need help re-entering the work force to hospice care for elderly veterans who might otherwise end up in state institutions or on the streets.
GreaterGood.org supports their efforts through contributions from The Veterans Site "Click Here To Give" program and other donations received through the GreaterGood Network.
