Hopeful news in the battle against malaria made headlines recently as a malaria vaccine passed its first clinical tests. Using intravenous delivery of radiation-weakened parasites, the vaccine has proved effective at preventing the disease in small groups of adults.
Further tests are required to determine the longevity of the vaccine and its effectiveness in infants in children. For the moment, however, this major milestone in the fight against malaria is a huge step forward for everyone working to end the devastating effects of malaria.
