GreaterGood 2012 grants funded thousands of meals for vets

Feed Our Vets pantryIn an expansion of grants directed at fighting hunger, poverty, and homelessness in the United States, GreaterGood.org continued to support the efforts of Feed Our Veterans (pantry shown left), Veterans Homestead, and Veterans Village of San Diego to provide meals, housing, and employment counseling for military families in their communities.

GreaterGood.org contributions meant “VVSD can continue to provide prevention, intervention, treatment, and aftercare to veterans in need. Assistance for veterans and their families include housing, food, clothing, substance abuse recovery, mental health counseling, job training, job search assistance, and legal services,” said Phil Landis, President & CEO, in a letter to GreaterGood.org.

In addition, GreaterGood.org gave grants to Pets For Vets to provide service animals for veterans.

In 2012, The Veterans Site’s store funded 122,813 meals for veterans in need or their families while the GreaterGood website’s “Click Here To Give” program provided 112,323 meals.

Overall, GreaterGood.org’s total contributions to charity exceeded $2.6 million in 2012.
