Mongolia is a vast nation, approximately the same size as the whole of western Europe. It is also the least densely populated nation in the world. As Mongolia's economy grows, the demand for quality education becomes more pressing.
A World Bank-supported project has helped set up classroom libraries in all the primary schools in rural Mongolia. Before 2006, most of these schools had no books whatsoever for their students. In addition to providing books, the project trained teachers on how to best incorporate the new materials into their lessons.
